The bowl, due to its characteristics, appears to have been handcrafted on a crank-operated or foot-powered pole lathe, a traditional technique historically present in the rural and mountainous areas of the region. Meanwhile, the pestle has a design and finish typical of a mid-20th century motorized lathe. Although this set was not made in the same year, both pieces fit together perfectly: they have shared decades of history in the same home and intensive use in the kitchen.\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe shape of the bowl is spherical, although it has small irregularities typical of artisanal craftsmanship, which are present at both ends of the upper part of the mortar, where there are slight inclinations caused by the knots in the wood. Several concentric lines, characteristic of lathe work, are observed around the piece, reflecting the character of a household object used for decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe patina found on the pestle and bowl was acquired through use and the passage of time. The surface, smoothed and satin-finished by continuous handling to crush and prepare food, herbs, nuts and other products. Meanwhile, on the lower sides of the bowl, the edges are heavily worn from intensive use.
